Support Structures for Plant Screens, Rooftop Plant and Facade Systems
Load-bearing steel structures for rooftop screening and facades, including ballasted systems for roofs where the membrane cannot be penetrated, and plant decks that spread equipment weight safely across the building structure. Ballasted, cantilevered and fixed systems, all with independently validated structural calculations, wind load analysis and ballast calculations included as standard, supporting specification and building control approval. For over 35 years, WPL UK have designed and manufactured bespoke louvre and facade systems from our Bolton facility. Our support structures are fabricated in-house from pre-galvanised steel, with aluminium and stainless steel options, and finished to any RAL colour or mill galvanised.

We pick up where your structural engineers leave off: every frame is engineered to your site, with spans, wind loads and ballast calculated and documented so specification and building control approval run clean.
No Roof Penetration, Retro-Fit Ready
Ballasted and cantilevered systems sit on the roof without touching the membrane, ideal for retro-fit on existing buildings where penetrations are not permitted. Raked support struts transfer lateral load to the ballast, on a non-slip membrane that protects the roof finish.

Project-specific structural calculations, wind load analysis and ballast weight calculations, independently validated and included with every system. Documentation ready for building control.
Spans to 3m, Heights up to 3m
Modular I-beam posts and horizontal rails span up to 3000mm between posts at up to 3000mm tall, covering perimeter screening, plant screening and facade applications.
Carries the Full WPL Range
One structure, any WPL system on top: louvres, acoustic panels, rainscreen, decorative panels, security rated screens and balustrade. Screen and structure from a single manufacturer.
Plant Decks Eliminate Point Loads
The WPL PD distributes rooftop plant weight evenly across the building structure on beams at 600mm centres. Equipment can be positioned anywhere on the deck without structural constraint.
Material and Finish Options
Pre-galvanised steel as standard, with aluminium and stainless steel options for coastal and corrosive environments. Powder-coated to any RAL colour to BS 6496, or mill galvanised. Warranty up to 10 years.
